My name is Sholom Strick and I’m a daycare owner as well as the founder and CEO of Hopping In.
Hopping In started after my wife and I noticed the demand for a convenient, accessible system that would let part-time daycare customers add days to their kids’ schedules on short notice.
As a provider it’s difficult to always let parents know exactly what spots have opened up day-by-day. Collecting payments and keeping track of the days can also get confusing. Hopping In solves these challenges in one easy-to-use web-based app.
The Hopping In tool provides a quick, easy and cost-efficient solution for daycare booking that meets the needs of both parents and providers. Thinking big to help the small is what Hopping In is all about.
About Me

Sholom & Leora Strick
I was born and raised in Chicago, and went on to earn my Bachelor’s Degree from Sy Syms School of Business in New York.
I first got involved in childcare after helping a commercial tenant start a daycare in Chicago. It was a great experience and I went on to apply my business background to opening and running a daycare of my own.
I branched out from there, establishing more daycares throughout Chicago. I’ve always been guided by my passion for providing professional, loving childcare for kids from all backgrounds.
My wife Leora and I live with our four children in Chicago and we’re all big Chicago Bears fans. I love to surf – Ecuador’s my favorite. I also love food and I’m enthusiastic about encouraging healthy eating habits in our youngsters. My childcare and preschool center The Nook serves all-organic meals, for example.
My favorite movie is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I’m a big fan of the comedy classics.
When it comes to business and life there’s a saying I like to keep in mind the quote Ferris used: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.”
